Mt Gambier. Commercial Flour mills in Mt Gambier built in 1901 to process oats and wheat. Closed in 1975.

Laura. The Showground land was obtained in 1881. This pavilion was built in 1907. Last Laura Show held here in 1914.

Port Wakefield. The former railway station refreshment rooms built around 1880. A rail line went from Port Wakefield to Hoyleton in 1871. In 1878 a line connected it to Kadina.

Harvey' Engine House at Wallaroo Mines. It was built in 1876 and the mine closed in 1922. Now a ruin.

Remains of the old copper smelter works of the Wallaroo Mines and the Moonta Mines. Complex main investor and owner was Sir Walter Watson Hughes. At one time there were 13 smelting chimney stacks. Only one the Hughes stack remains at Wallaroo.

Mitcham. The grave and headstone of Charles Eaton Taplin a well known Adelaide architect. In the Mitcham general cemetery with the gazebo and funereal Cypress pines along the road.

Moonta Mines. Richmans Enginehouse1869 and around it the mullock heap. Next to the enginehouse was the concentrating plant and compressor house. Nearby is Taylors Shaft the deepest Moonta copper mine at 2,520 feet.

Snowtown. A wind storm in early spring 2018 destroyed several buildings like this main street shop and damagaed many others.

Snowtown. This old bakey was built around 1890 as a Plymouth Brethren church. It was converted into a bakery and sometimes a butchers shop in 1910. It closed in 1928. The cottage behind was built before 1890.

mount Gambier. Fine old house once home to a stone mason who built the Anglican Church Rectory and the Gambier Gaol. House built 1876 to show off his skills.

Mount Gambier. St Andrews Presbyterian Church. Built 1871 it replced an earlier 1860 church. Built in local pink dolomite. Front entrance added 1902. A focal point of Mt Gambier.

Mount Gambier. The Anglican Rectory. Designed by a local architect and built in 1864. The stables have heritage listing. The first occupant Rev Needham died within a year. Still used as the rectory for Christ Church.

Burfords Signal Soap advert on the old wheat store in Auburn South Australia. In the Clare Valley. Burfords were the major soap and candle makers in Adelaide in the 19th century.

Moonta copper mine area had 14 Methodist Churches. Moonta Mines Wesleyan Methodist built in 1865 accommodates 1250 worshippers. Nice pipe organ here.

Roseworthy. The old original state school which has now been demolished. Looks as it it was built around 1875 when the Education Department was formed. Rounded romanesque windows were unsual in state schools. Photo is inthe public domain .

Moonta School of Mines opened 1891 in former Baptist church which was built in 1866. In 1903 they built another half of the buiding to match the original 1866 church. Mines School needed as Moonta a big copper mining town.

Adelaide. The statue of Sir Walter Watson Hughes in front of the Mitchell building the University of Adelaide. Hughes donated 20,000 pounds from his Moonta copper mine wealth to found the university in 1874.Statue unveiled 1906.
