Malakhoff near Inkerman. The old government school. Opened in 1892 and closed in 1942. The garden roller is there ready for work.

Balaklava. The front of the fomer Methodist Church built in 1904. It replaced an earlier 1871 Bible Christian church. It becmae a Uniting Church in 1977.

Mount Templeton Wesleyan Methodist Church built in 1885. It closed in 1969 and is now a seldom used residence.

Whitwarta. Werocata homestead. Built pastoralist by Edmund Bowman 1864 and extended by Edmund Bowman junior in 1883.

Moonta Mines. The stone Moonta Mines School was built in 1878 and added to several times. It is now the Moonta Mines Museum. This was a copper mining town from 1861.

Manoora. The Railway station built in 1898. The line opened in 1870. Note the two Washingtonia date palms still growing. They were issued to almost all South Australian railway stations in the 1890s.

Mount Templeton Peace Hall. It was built in 1921. The land was donated by Patrick Howard and the building cost £1,000.

Bumbunga. The Gothic interior of the ruins of the Bumbunga Church of Christ. It was built in 1884 and closed in 1940. Although there is no front wall the side walls are in quite good condition.

Balaklava. Werocata estate establishd by Edmund Bowman. Farm worker's house and crenulated water tower. The water tower is heritage listed.

Balaklava. Werocata homestead. The classical style facade . Built around 1864 with these Italianate bay window rooms added about 1883. STeps and entrance reminiscent of that at Martindale Hall. The steps led down to an ornamental boating lake in 1883.

Port Wakefield. Established 1849. Fine stone wall along the Wakefield River behind the railway houses and the station masters house.

Whitwarta on the banks of the River Wakefield. On the left are the ruins of the hotel and the fine stable shed on the right. The Hotel opened in 1866 and closed in 1923.

Moonta School. Opened in 1877 for 800 students. Identical to Moonta Mines and Wallaroo Mines and Wallaroo Schools which opened at the same time. It is now Moonta Area School.

Wallaroo. Yorke Peninsula. The old Courthouse built in 1866. Closed as a courthouse in 1972.

Port Wakefield. Fine limestone wall beside the former National Australia bank. Erected 1877 and archiect was Daniel Garlick of Adelaide.

Whitwarta. Beyond these ruins of the Whitwarta hotel and coach house is the Wakefield River. The hotel operated from 1866 to 1923.

Hoyleton South Australia. Canola fields through the former town oval gates. Hoyleton was the terminus of an 1870 horse tramway.

Balaklava. South Australia. A centenary plaque commemorating the Crimean War and the Battle of Balaclava 1854 after which the town and Hundred was named.

Snowtown. The former English Scottish and Australian bank built in 1883. The gable was redesigned and altered around 1900.

Clare. The former Savings Bank of South Australia built in 1930 in a geometric symmetrical Art Deco style. The manager's residence was on the upper floor.

Redhill. The memorial cairn to the 1876 built Catholic Church with the old Catholic cemetery behind it.

Dr Higham House in Balaklava. Built in 1907. He developed Ottajamba medicines for horses. He was a vet.

Watchman. Also known as Cavanaghville. The old government school built in 1885 and the Australian flag pole. It closed in 1955. Has been converted into a residence.

Moonta. The Town Hall of 1907 was built in 1885 as an Institute. The clock tower was added in 1907 when it became the Town Hall.

Virginia South Australia. A group of four stone maisonettes built by the South Australian Railways for their workers stationed in Virginia. The rail service from Adelaide to Virginia began in January 1916.

Hoyleton rail shed and wheat store. Built around 1870 when the line was extended to Blyth and guage changed to 5 foot 3 inches. Line terminated Port Wakefield.

Mount Templeton. The sheep run was taken up in 1851. This derelict original stone homestead was probably built in the 1870s when the property of 31,000 acres had new owners.

Nice pipe organ in Moonta Mines Wesleyan Methodist Church built in 1865. Seating for 1250 worchippers. 14 Methodist churches inthe Moonta mines area in 19th century.

Woolsheds Flat. near Rhynie. The old Wesleyan Methodist church and cemetery built in 1859. Still occassionally used. Available for weddings etc.

Watchman. Cavanaghville. Near Balaklava. A government school opened here in 1876. This fien stone school was built in 1885. Closed in 1955. Known as Cavanaghville School until 1940 when it was changed to Watchman.
