説明 | After stopping for supplies in Crieff, I entered the Highlands and true enough it started to rain. I now faced two options: Either I took the the single track road from Amulree directly to Kenmore on the eastern tip of Loch Tay, or I took the A826 via Aberfeldy. Since the first road would save me two sides of a triangle, I decided for that. But when I reached Amulree, I saw no sign that said "Kenmore" and no one was around. In no condition to try my luck I found a café and asked for directions. I was given simple directions and the warning, that the road would be steep. If I had small gears, asked someone. Yes, sure I had. 30x23 teeth, to be exact. The smallest gear would allow me to cycle at 8 mph, not really slower. I should have taken the warning more seriously. Sure enough, it was nice cycling along Loch Freuchie, but the hill I encountered was just mind boggling. And when I thoughed I reached to summit, I saw the road just flatten a short while, before kicking up again an again. |
