| 説明 | The first pride day in the Tower District was the very first time the gay community of Fresno held an event in a general public place outdoors - it was a big step, a new way of thinking for a medium sized town like Fresno.It was nothing resembling a big city pride - it was more like a big block party. But that didn't stop it from being controversial. In protest, one business on Olive Avenue closed their decades-old floral business stating "we moved to Fresno from San Francisco to get away from this sort of thing." Seemed kind of anal-retentive to me. I surmise they moved to Wasco or something. It will be a while before there's a Wasco Pride.As for the Fresno event - people look forward to it every year. The parade thrives now under the guidance of Community Link. |
