| 説明 | Gate tower of the north bailey in the Turaida Castle in the Vidzeme region of Latvia.Built in the 15th century, simultaneously with the northern forecastle, this tower formed parts of the defence system together with a drawbridge and a moat on the northern side of the castle. The gate was pulled down and moat filled in during the 17th century, but the gate tower - as seen here - was restored between 1968 and 1978. |
