| 説明 | Native Irish Honeybee Society queen rearing educational eventSaturday 3rd August 2013, Minnowburn, Belfast (the Apiary is on the national Trust Premises)There were places for a maximum of 2 beekeepers from each of the Ulster beekeeping associations (including Cavan and Donegal) The event was aimed at increasing the capacity for Queen rearing / intentional bee breeding in Ulster. There was a great turnout and enthusiastic participation from all who attended.The format was very much practical with demonstration and opportunity for hands on activity.There were four stations, 1 hour each:1) Grafting larvae to queen cells2) The queen cell raising colony (including drone production)3) Managing Apidea mating nuclei4) Marking, clipping and introducing new queensI got to come along (as the photographer) a great chance to evesdrop and pick up so much information. |
