説明 | Lake Dolores in Newberry Springs, halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, has hosted some form of water park since the early 1960s; the water park's heyday was in the 1970s and the early 1980s, but the park eventually declined in popularity, and first closed in the early 1990s.It re-opened in 1998 as Rock-a-Hoola Water Park, with 1950s rock 'n roll theming and the world's longest lazy river, but couldn't attract enough business, and after an employee sneaked in after hours and hurt himself, the park closed again for good in 2004. Since then, most of the rides have been dismantled and sold, but the buildings and other components remain, left to the elements and becoming a convenient target for vandals.Due to "no trespassing - violators will be prosecuted" signs, and due to the park still being actively owned private land (and vandalism being a major issue), I decided not to push my luck too much, and took this photo from the parking area. |
