説明 | With my San Francisco Pride weekend wrapped up, I am driving up to the 3,947-foot summit of Mt. Diablo for some awesome vistas to finish it off before heading back to Los Angeles. My original plan would've been to take a BART ride from Pleasanton, where I had been staying, to San Francisco, to photograph more tourist frenzy around Fisherman's Wharf, but the BART strike starting on this day, and the resulting colossal traffic jams on the bridges, scrubbed that plan. Additionally on this hot day, my car's running on empty (my plan being to refuel at Costco in Concord) and that's stressing its submerged fuel pump - so much so that it started acting up during my drive to Los Angeles! I got home safely but the car will need a new fuel pump. Fuel pump failures are a known issue with the Genesis; mine had lasted only 85,000 miles and it's extremely rare for me to run on empty like I did this particular day. Those are two transportation woes for the Bay Area as far as I'm concerned. By the end of this very week, a third would pop up - paralysis of San Francisco International Airport due to the crash-landing of Asiana Airlines Flight 214.I'm more than a bit peeved at the Koreans for their homophobia (thanks again for Prop 8, even though it's void now), their car defects (a shame, as the rest of the Genesis is still outstanding), and their cut-rate pilots (Asiana 214 does seem to be a pilot error)! Will seriously consider a Ford or a Chevrolet as my future replacement car, and as for my next adventure to Asia, that will be booked with my usual favorite airline United! |
