This bed was under a staircase leading to a bridge in Tottenham.I posted it on 17 June 2013, when the UK had the presidency of the "G8 countries" which were meeting in Lough Erne, near Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. The term "G8" refers to "the Group of Eight" of the world's wealthiest countries. __________________________________§ Link to BBC Newsnight 1989 film by Don McCullin's about homeless people in London.§ On 12 April 2013. Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people reported that: "Benefit cuts, soaring house prices and rents have pushed up homelessness in London three times faster than England as a whole. (Source: Crisis Website news article 12 April 2013.)Also that: "Rough sleeping in the capital is also on the rise. Latest statistics show that 1,382 individuals sleeping rough in the capital in January and February of this year, 609 for the first time. This is a 7% increase on the total figure for January-February 2012." |
