| 説明 | Photo by Lori Twersky.Lori thought there was a market for a South Bay free weekly, working title, "San Jose Face", so she put some marketing collateral together, including photos of typical Silicon Valley inhabitants. Played by friends and family, of course. She'd invented some hybrid Fantasy Camp / Budoir portrait genre, but had bigger things in mind. I got to be this guy, and its always nice to be well thought of by your spouse or sweetheart! My dad was posed in front of his Apple II with one of my radio-controlled toy airplanes. Hope McComas was dressed up in a Brunhilde costume. VIcky Hodson wore a cowgirl outfit (hat, skirt, attitude) suitable for The Saddle Rack, Jerry Hodson dressed sharp and posed with a clarinet which I believe was his own. John and Debbie Clelland dressed up as a stylish, sophisticated young couple, Jerome Schiller dressed up as a punk rocker with his hair spiked. Hence the story about Jerome at a pet shop to trying on spiked collars, and asking the clerk if they had a dressing room! I would have paid money to have seen the clerk's reaction to that one...The guitar is that curious and wonderful solid body Hofner with the embossed vinyl covering that I got from John Lalley (with matching Teisco amp, covered in red vinyl). Skinny like a Teisco, three large, rectangular pickups with looked like hummbuckers (pole-piece screws offset to one side). I never actually disassembled it but looking through a separated place in joint between front and back vinyl the body appeared to be particle board. It had very little sustain. The neck was nice enough. When I got a better guitar, I took this one to the Guitar Showcase consignment shop and the store bought it for their own collection. It was in the walk-in vault/display case last time I saw it, a relic from a bye-gone age. Just like the Pacific Trails knockoff of a Members Only jacket that I'm wearing, or the skinny tie made of woven aluminized mylar... There is video of me playing this (not particularly well) with The Electrolytics at the end of a party at Credence. |
