説明 | A global temperature rise exceeding 2 °C will have catastrophic and unpredictable impacts. To keep below 2 °C we have to limit future greenhouse gas emissions and keep within a ‘carbon budget’. According to Carbon Tracker, in collaboration with the Grantham Research Institute for Climate Change and the Environment at the London School of Economics and Political Science, the budget is 900 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide. (See: Unburnable carbon 2013: Wasted capital and stranded assets.)The pink cube, which is 78 km high (49 miles) is the actual volume of 900 billion tonnes of CO2 (at standard pressure and 15 °C). The shapes to the right show the emissions from proven reserves listed in Global Energy Outlook 2012. |
