| 説明 | IN COMMEMORATION OF THE 15TH CENTURY WELL WHICH STOOD ON THIS SITE AND PROVIDED THE HISTORIC VILLAGE OF STANWELL WITH DRINKING WATER AND WAS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN USED FOR ITS HEALING PROPERTIES UNTIL RECENT TIMES.Heathrow airport was built on top of an enormous neolithic ritual landscape, comparable in scale and importance with Rudston or Avebury. The enormous Stanwell Cursus, a vast processional way that linked the sites around Stanwell with those by Bigley Ditch at Harmondsworth is now destroyed. The miraculous well which gives the unpreposessing village its name is also destroyed; it is likely it was originally linked to the other features in this ritual landscape. |
