説明 | The Bay Lights is an art project, with strings of 25,000 LED lights on each vertical cable, sequenced to a fanciful display. It is world’s largest LED light sculpture, a digital display stretching almost 2 miles long. I took this shot from my hotel window while the road crew worked past midnight below. The guy who dreamed this up, Ben Davis, spoke at e.g. this year. The inspiration came after a divorce, when he went to Burning Man and wanted to bring some of that after-dark spectacle back home... (I know what he means: photos, video)“I was inspired by the nightscape of the playa at Burning Man and frustrated that all that beautiful energy dissipated into the night sky. I wanted to find a way to bring that energy, generosity, spectacle, and awe back to that place that we live and let it stay longer. This is not just a bridge now, it is a canvas for light and a digital campfire that will have a personal impact on each and every of the 50 million people that see it.” |
