説明 | Native, cool-season, perennial, erect, robust, tufted grass to 1.5 m tall. Stem nodes and leaves have downy hairs.Leaves are tufted at the base of the plant and 30-50% of the stem length. Found on low fertility sandy or gravelly soils in roadsides, grassy woodlands and dry eucalypt forest. It is more common in ungrazed areas and after disturbance.Native biodiversity. Potentially valuable for mine site and eroded hillslope revegatation as it produces abundant seed, readily establishes on poor shallow soils and is very drought tolerant. Relatively unpalatable, but is sensitive to frequent defoliation and largely absent from pastures. To aid persistence, provide long rests between grazing or slashing, don’t cut/graze below 10-15 cm and spell to allow seeding in spring. |
