| 説明 | Today's Posting Assignment #527 "Show us as many number 1's as you can muster"OK, here's a real one, just to keep the peace =)There's only one one, but it's a good one!The sign itself is not special, but it's a classic/vintage, and it's been there for a long time.The Address, on the other hand, is special. It's on Gasværksvej (Gasworks Road) and it's the first "real" City Hall in Taastrup, build way back in the late 19th Century when the whole council AND the administration could fit in a two story "single-family" house. That’s over 100 years ago, and now the bureaucracy is a 100 times larger, but so is the municipality =)Anyway... the building is fairly close to the former gasworks that was closed down many years ago, once they found out the plant was polluting the whole area with Dioxin. So, decades of councilmen and bureaucrats must have been exposed to this toxic substance while debating how to squeeze out yet another cent of the citizens’ pockets =/ |
