| 説明 | The great man is getting a few outings these days what with BBC Radio 4 doing adaptations of "Jill" and "A Girl In Winter". Last night I listened to Jill, on my Kindle Fire and this morning Required Writing arrived, a volume of extracts from Larkin's prose and reviews, and by co-incidence the very first item is his introduction to Jill. The intro recounts his deliciously self-deprecating observation that the highest academic compliment he received at Oxford was "Mr. Larkin can see a point, if it is explained to him". Can't wait... |
