説明 | From the eBay seller's description:Up for auction is an Early Coal Iron made out of cast iron with a tin protective hand shield that advertises "Classen Bros. & Co. - Ann Arbor, Mich." This unusual iron has a rotating 4 position disc on the back edge. This rotating disc has 2 open ports and 2 closed ports that when rotated reveal 2 openings in the body of the iron. I presume adjusting the position of these ports would alter the amount of heat in the iron. There is also a tin 'fluting' panel on one side of the body of the iron that is stamped "Pat. Apl'd for" on the edge. There is also an iron 'pull pin' on the back that seems to secure the top half of the iron to the base - perhaps intended to facilitate loading of the hot coals. I was able to pull the pin all the way out but unable to separate the top from the base, but I imagine with some effort this could be accomplished. This unusual iron measures approx. 6 3/4" long at the base x 4 1/4" wide x 8 3/8" tall to the top of the spout and is in generally excellent condition. The tin advertising plate has some wear as shown. |
