説明 | During World War 2 the Nazis placed a number of large guns on the French coast with the mission to bombard the English Coast, namely Dover. This spiralled into a duel between the British gunners and the German gunners with a number of new batteries being built on cliffs at Dover. One such battery that was constructed on the cliff tops in Dover was the Fan Bay Battery, which housed three six-inch guns to fire upon the German positions. The surface structures of the battery have long since been developed but the underground structures still remain; one deep shelter and two ammo bunkers. The deep shelter is in very good condition due to the nature of the entry. Within the far reaches of the shelter, there can be found graffiti dating from 1942. |
