説明Sitting on the floor of the porch with wings vibrating steadily, this moth was getting steamed up for its return flight to the forest early in the morning. It is very likely that certain moth species observe a kind of curfew that begins from or before first light, one opposite to that of humans since in this case moths are nocturnal creatures. There is an instinctive behaviour (I think) that prompts them to return to their natural habitat before daylight meets them in a location they had spent the night. This trait can also be related to the late-night party culture common with humans. Many moths begin to come out as early as 7pm in the evening. Other unique ones, come later in the night say from 9pm and on. And yet still, the wee hours welcome in the most spectacular of them all. I call these ones an elite set of moths.Only a few of them return as almost as soon as they visit, or simply change location hardly to be seen again (like the elusive Death's-head hawkmoth I managed to spot just once). Many remain until first light, flying off at their convenience. While others have to be nudged or poked before following suit.On several occasions, I meet a pack of moths, big and small resting on the walls or window nettings. Sunlight meets them, acting as a final stimulus that drives some home or into the shade of neighbouring trees, flowers and hedges avoiding dehydration as they feed primarily on plant juice or nectar. For the rest that don't tragically end up being picked up by a bird or killed by human, the show goes on from dusk.
