| 説明 | NASA Space Shuttle Endeavor's Final Journey - NASA's Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (SCA) with the space shuttle Endeavour securely mounted on top, circling at 1500 feet, roughy 450 meters, altitude over the University of Arizona's Mall in Tucson, Arizona. NASA pilots Jeff Moultrie and Bill Rieke are at the controls of the Shuttle Carrier Aircraft.This flyover was requested by retired former commander of the Endeavor, Mark Kelly, in honor of his wife, Gabrielle Giffords. They live in Tucson.It was amazing to see... Very exciting!!Commander Mark Kelly, the retired Commander of NASA's Endeavor Spacecraft, requested the 747 fly around the U of A campus in honor of his wife Gabrielle Giffords." Brings tears to my eyes...I recommend NASA's Shuttle website for views of Endeavor taken by in other locations by cameras on spotter aircraft:www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/transition/gallery/gallery-ind...I am so sad that we have no other Space Shuttle design operable. It was known for some time that the current design approach of a vehicle mounted external to it's booster rocket is inherently unsafe. So it is a good thing it is being retired. However, not having a shuttle design to replace it was not a happy end of the line result for US space aficionados... I did not intend it for something like this!!! I picked up, on sale, to capture butterflies and give a nice perspective on flower filled fields, etc. The quality is not great, but it is the longest auto focus lens I had available...;)) If I had had the courage, I would have used my Nikon Maksutov catadioptric mirror lens 500mm f/5 lens with an adapter for the Canon mount... |
