| 説明 | There has always been a tradition in the Scottish Police Service for the hat badge of senior officers (Inspectors and above) to be embroidered rather than done in metal. As a result, since the inception of the Scottish Constabulary crest from the 1930s onwards, there have been many variations in the "senior officer" badge which was done by hand in bygone times.Here are half a dozen varying (considerably!) examples which I have obtained in my 30-odd years of collecting. Do compare one with another to see the level of variation in terms of shape and proportion (ignore the colour variation due to vagaries of my photography and the threads fading over time)Strangely Inspectors and above were (still are!) always very protective of their hats when in my presence. All I would do would be to look (VERY) closely at the badge, and drop less than subtle hints about remembering me when their hat was no longer fit for purpose. Sadly, it rarely worked! |
