説明 | The BT Artbox StoryThe good old British phone box was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to commemorate King George V's Silver Jubilee. This year we’ve got a Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 to look forward to, so we decided we needed to do something to celebrate. That something turned into BT ArtBox. It’s a campaign that thrives on the nation’s artistic talent. Across London’s streets you’ll find replicas of the Gilbert Scott phone box, transformed by the imaginations of some of our very best creative minds. Then later on we’ll be auctioning all the boxes off to raise money for ChildLine’s 25th anniversary.“The Royal Stewart”Artist: Corrie NielsonLocation: Wyndham Place"John S. Burns, my great, great, great grandfather emigrated to America from Scotland around the time of the Revolutionary War and I hold close to my Scottish roots."Digging deep into the Medieval English and Scottish manners of dress, Corrie uncovered the 'Vestiarium Scoticum'. The role of this manuscript in the history of Scottish dress was vast and the designs and patterns contained within it were said to describe the official clan tartans. The 'Vestiarium Scoticum' has had a long and divisive history and was at one time considered the most controversial book on costume.Corrie wanted The Royal Stewart ArtBox to reflect her collection, her heritage and to celebrate all things royal for the Diamond Jubilee. She also wanted it to be a unique piece of fashion - inspired art that a patron can comfortably house in a unique space in their home - one that will generate conversation with a hint of contemporary nostalgia. |
