| 説明 | On the sidelines of Kbal Spean- a well concealed cave temple beside the River of the 1000 lingas. (the Hindu phallic symbol). A couple of dollars 'baksheesh' (tip) to one of the workers at the site and he brought me deep down to the actual river bank to show me things the other visitors would not see. Here is a shrine deep inside a cave on the river bank. I am in Kbal Spean, about 25km from Siem Reap, Cambodia, one of the scores of Angkor era temples which dot the countryside around the town. Kbal Spean is renowned for the thousand lingas carved on the bedrock of the Siem Reap river, as well as some interesting carvings on the rocks beside the river. Kbal Spean is not a temple per se, but rather an archaeological site located on the western part of the Kulein mountains within the Phnom Kulen National Park near Siem Reap, Cambodia. Approach is from the Banteay Srei temple by a road which is about 5 km from an army camp. Thereafter, it is a long walk on an unsealed 2.5 km long trail up the hill and through dense bush. The first site we come to upon reaching the top of the hill a water fall, where the carved sculptures start appearing in the river bed. Back to this picture, although Kbal Spean is more known for the thousand lingas carved onto the bedrock of the river alongside, this cave temple is dedicated to the Linga too. Of course course it is not on the tourist trail, I happened to come upon this only thanks to a worker at the site who brought me here.
