説明 | This is a common artifact seen in transbronchial lung biopsies. Compression of lung tissue by the biopsy forceps produces atelectasis and air bubbles of varying size that can be confused with lipid aspiration. While the size and shape of many of these air bubbles resembles lipid many do not have the appearance of lipid.. If there are many macrophages in the lung tissue they may be found at the periphery of the air bubbles and give that false impression that they are reacting to the aspiration of lipid. Biopsy specimens with this appearance have been misdiagnosed as exogenous lipid pneumonia. |
