| 説明 | This one gave me a real "What the hell" moment! Fairly sure that it was a triumphal arch erected for one of the visits of Edward VII to Dublin (1903, 1904, 1907) but didn't know where it was. I felt that it was a bridge over the Grand Canal, but just couldn't work out where. And how and when such a monument disappeared? Passed it over to you, and HibernoManchego came up trumps, saying it "would appear to be for the 1903 visit and was in Leeson Street."Some absolutely fantastic information has come in on this one - see the comments below! Here's the inscription:EDWARDI VIID. G. BRITT. ET TERR. TRANSMARIN.Q VAE IN DITIONE SVNT BRIT REGISF.D. IND IMP ANN SECVNDOEXOI TATVS ADES PORTAE PANDVNIVR AMICODate: 1903NLI Ref.: L_ROY_07605 |
