| 説明 | Click here to learn more about Camp HumphreysU.S. Army photos by Rakendra MooreCAMP HUMPHREYS — To put it all in a shell, this year’s Eggstravaganza was nothing short of extravagant for Soldiers, family members, and civilians who gathered on Soldier Field here April 7.“Today’s been fantastic,” said Capt. Evan Cooney from A Company, 602nd Aviation Support Battalion. “We had an enormous turnout.”The Eggstravaganza was filled with fun, games, free food, and an Easter egg hunt. There were three top prizes of golden eggs for each age group that included Post Exchange gift cards.“The whole event is all about the children, the smiles, and the good times,” said Paul Parrish, coordinator of the event. “If we can do all of that in a safe atmosphere, on a beautiful day, we were sure blessed the day before Easter,” added Parrish.Egg grabs were held for the 0-3 age group and consisted of small circles of Easter eggs, candies, and toys to make it easier for the very young to take part in the event. The 6-and-under and 7-10 age categories had an egg hunt, where children looked for eggs hidden in bushes, trees, and the area surrounding Soldier Field.“It was awesome. I’m glad they had something like this for them to do,” said Jennifer Anders, a mother of three.The Eggstravaganza also comprised four bouncing games and lined tables of assorted activities for the children. There were also large animal characters on hand.Volunteers for the event were from the 602nd ASB’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers, and the USO.“It was great. There was a lot of activities and places for the kids to play,” said Chief Warrant Office 3 Tommy Hinson, who took his three children to the event. “We look forward to it every year.” Hinson’s 5-year-old son, Jaxson, may have summed it up best when he said, “I love this place.” |
