説明 | LNER Gresley "A4" 4-6-2 No.4464 "Bittern" (later LNER No.19; BR 60019) in 1937 Garter Blue and Indian Red livery leaving Highley on the Severn Valley Railway on a Bridgnorth - Kidderminster service, 03/12. A4's appeared in Garter Blue to haul the "Corontaion" and "West Riding" streamliners introduced in 1937. The A4's also hauled the top non-streamlined expresses such as the Flying Scotsman, which consisted of varnished teal coaches such as seen here - what a contrast betwen the (then) state-of-the-art A4's and the very traditional (even for the '30's) teak coaches - but both were excellent vehicles. |
