説明 | I have now tried to restore this shot, so please go herewww.flickr.com/photos/flissphil/21428430/to view it as originally intended. The vessel in this shot is just about to haul in its catch. You can tell by where the gulls are and the deployment of the little derrick that is used to lift the full net from the water.. We in the 'Primula' are passing astern of her with our seine net still deployed in the same huge shoal of cod. From what I understand cod in these numbers haven't been there for years. At this time the use of sonar to find the shoals had just become universal. The conversations on 'Primula' often speculated on whether the stocks would be able to endure this new certainty of finding them, not to mention the increasing presence of Spanish vessels off the north of Scotland. The answer has turned out to be 'no'.This shot is scan of a damaged slide that was put up here before I learnt how to repair such scans. I would have taken it down and repaired it, if it were not for the fact that it has been viewed so often already. |
