説明 | From Lake all the way to Jackson, it's one continuous platform.Until 1951, trains on the Milwaukee elevated line turned south and used the Paulina connector, which intersected with the Lake elevated and the now-demolished Garfield Park elevated. With the building of the subway, trains kept going southeast, turning east at Lake Street, south at Dearborn, and west at Congress before ending at LaSalle St. The building of the Congress line in the median of the Congress (now Eisenhower) Expressway in 1958 extended the line from LaSalle all the way to DesPlaines Avenue in Forest Park. The old Garfield Park el, though, went all the way to Mannheim Road, and turned south to go all the way to 22nd St. Its route was taken over by a bus line; to this day, the 17 Westchester bus (the 317 PACE at certain hours) is the only CTA bus line to run entirely in the suburbs. |
