説明 | Skulls in the background from left to right: way in the back: squirrel nose, Lesser Egyptian Jerboa (Jaculus jaculus), Mountain Beaver (Aplodontia rufa), North American Beaver (Castor canadensis).Note that the wallaby has some partially erupted molars in the skull and not-yet-erupted molars in the mandible. Maybe a sub-adult? Although I think the cheek teeth are continually forming like a conveyor belt in macropods. Also notice the palatal fenestrae that are characteristic of many marsupials. I have no idea what their functions are. Marsupials are weird... |
