説明 | Time for another weed! Brittleweed is a "noxious" invasive weed and considered a pest in several states. It is native to tropical America and has spread worldwide. It produces wind borne achenes (up to 1500 per plant) that disperse the enclosed seed. On the flip side, Wikipedia states "Tridax procumbens is known for several potential therapeutic activities like antiviral, antibiotic efficacies, wound healing activity, insecticidal and anti-inflammatory activity. Some reports from tribal areas in India state that the leaf juice can be used to cure fresh wounds, to stop bleeding, as a hair tonic." This one was blooming at Juno Dunes Natural Area, Palm Beach County, Florida. To the Hall of Weeds it goes! |
