説明 | The Maryland Military Department helped with the ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks and the dedication of a memorial to the state's victims. The 9/11 Memorial of Maryland was dedicated Sunday in the plaza of Baltimore's World Trade Center Building beside the Inner Harbor.The State's 9/11 memorial features a 22-foot-long piece of twisted steel recovered from the World Trade Center in New York, as well as limestone from the Pentagon and black granite to symbolize the crash site of United Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pa. They rest atop a stone base inscribed with the names and birthdates of the 68 Marylanders who died in the 9/11 attacks.Brig. Gen Allyson R. Solomon, Chaplain (Col.) William Sean Lee and members of the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard and Defense Force supported the ceremony that also included a flyover of two A-10C Thunderbolt II also know as Warthogs. |
