説明 | LC1937This was a beauty, and a rare one at that. The Bantam was sold from 1936 to 1939 and was the first car made by Singer to have a pressed steel body. The Tourer was announced in 1937 and very few were made, and even less survive now. Wikipedia says a lot of surviving Bantams are in Australia and New Zealand, as Singer exported these as rolling chassis with a complete powertrain. They were mostly bodied by the Flood company in Australia as Roadsters and Tourers. This one was in immaculate condition. Singer has always been one of my favourite English marques, along with Triumph, Austin and Sunbeam.Bit of useless/useful info: Australian crime writer Charles Shaw took his nom de plume 'Bant Singer' from this car. |
