説明 | I got some time to do a quick (for me anyway) 40 mile ride yesterday, so I stopped by for a visit to see what was up at the shop.Aaron, who purchased my old Kogswell, happened to be there as well. He just got an absolutely pristine Miyata 1000 LT (in the background) and came to show it off. I'll get more pics of that one later.By the way, the bike in the foreground is my commuter, a 1987 Centurion Semi-Pro.This chrome plated, Tange Champion 2 tubed bike is by far the sweetest ride in my stable right now. It's the perfect tubeset for my, um, heft...and the price was definitely right. I purchased it from a yard sale and I've got twenty US dollars invested in the bike so far. For now, I've built it with spare parts from the bin but I've got big plans for it for the long term. For the few of you that actually care about this sort of thing, the bike is kitted out with an NOS, late 80's Shimano 105 drivetrain powered by a set of Suntour Accushift bar con shifters. It stops with an NOS set of Dia-Compe Gran Compe brakes and levers with Mathauser pads. Time ATAC carbon pedals connect me to the bike while I sit upon a well-used Concor Supercorsa. It also features a hand built wheelset (Sunshine Pro Am hubs, 36 bladed spokes, laced to chrome anodized Araya rims). I trued these, thanks to my wedding present from Scott and Wendy, a Park TS-2 from Scott's mountain biking days in Arizona.Eventually, I'd like to take Doug Fattic's 3 day brazing course in Niles, Michigan (I'd love the full-on 2 week, frame building course, but that's way out of my financial and chronological budget) to learn how to give this frame the "randonneur special" treatment it deserves. By the way, if you watched the youtube vid about the Fattic, it's a sad story. Someone should contact that guy and let him know the bike should be ridden. |
