説明 | The United States Mission sponsored the visit to Geneva of the Yellow Bird Apache Dancers, a professional family dance company based in Phoenix Arizona. This photo shows the groups visit to Village Camps in Founex on July 12, 2011.The group also performed July 11, 2011 in the Human Rights Council Chamber at the Opening of the 4th Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and as well as at the Opening of the U.S.-Mission sponsored exhibit “Dignity – Tribes in Transition” featuring the photography of Dana Gluckstein.The Yellow Bird Apache Dancers have performed traditional dances at the Smithsonian Institution and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC as well as cultural events hosted by various U.S. Embassies and Missions around the world. The group also received the “Culture Keepers of Arizona” award from former Arizona governor Janet Napoitano.The Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) was established by the UN Human Rights Council in 2007 as a subsidiary body of the Council. It provides the Human Rights Council with thematic advice, in the form of studies and research, on the rights of Indigenous peoples as directed by the Council. The Expert Mechanism may also suggest proposals to the Council for its consideration and approval.
