| 説明 | Among the many thousands of archeological finds of Pompeii are hundreds of well-preseved remains of victims of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. No other site gives us such a complete picture of Roman life in the First Century, as the layers of ash preserved many artifacts, bodies, and even foodstuffs quite well.While it was originally thought that most victims suffocated, recent discoveries indicate that most victims fell prey to searing heat that reached temperatures in excess of 480 degrees F/250 degrees C. The falling ash and debris then coverd the bodies. |
