| 説明 | Located in the middle/upper region of the monastery, this refectory, or dining room features very unique "tables" where the monks dined.Carved out of stone, these spaces are designed to be used while kneeeling with the head bowed and placed in the cut-out spaces. This was designed so the monks would remain reverent and thankful to God, while also not looking at or being concerned with what the other monks were eating or doing. Extreme, perhaps, but an effective way to maintain pious focus and discipline. |
