He enlisted on March 26, 1862, at Madison, Florida and resigned on September 2. He later enlisted on February 18, 1863, as Captain of Company G of the 11th Florida Infantry at Madison, resigning on November 1863. He then enlisted on November 9, 1863, with Company F of the 5th Florida Cavalry at Camp Ward, but was exchanged to Company D, 1st Florida Reserves, on September 1, 1864. He appears as 2nd lieutenant in early 1865, and was paroled by Union forces on May 14, 1865, at Madison. Repository: State Library and Archives of Florida, 500 S.
