| 説明 | This is a National Park in Provence called The Camargue.Mostly our coach drove around it, and we stopped for photo stops. We saw the white horses and the flamingos. But the bulls were too far away to take photos of them.Probably the Etang de Vaccares.Aha! We've found them! Loads of pink flamingos. This was a good photo stop. Some 10,000 pairs of these exotic, bright pink birds breed in the Camargue. They are often seen feeding on the marshes of the Etang de Vaccares, although their main breeding ground is on the saltier lagoons towards the south. They warned that we might get bitten here, and I think I was bitten, although didn't notice it until the day later. Didn't see any mosquitos around though. The Camargue is constituted by vast marshy plains extending from Fos-sur-Mer to Aigues Mortes. The magic triangle formed by the two arms of the Rhone enclose the regional natural park created in 1970 (82,000 hectares). The Camargue is an area of exceptional flora and fauna, and is an essential resting point for thousands of migrating birds. Its beauty certainly deserves preserving. Every year, hundreds of flamingoes come here to breed. But the Camargue also has wild bulls, white horses and the folklore to go with them, jealousy by the local people. |
