| 説明 | At the mouth of the river, there are some boats available for hire to some nearby islands. We got on one to take us to the Fishing Village, a restaurant on stilts in the middle of the sea, where we gasped audibly when the headmistress of the demented place offered us these humongous oysters on the half shell that must have been genetically-engineered for – I swear on my dead toenail’s grave – the measly sum of Php25 PER KILOGRAM (that’s fitty-cent, and yes shorty, it indeed is your birthday). After carefully thinking about it and weighing the clams on our palms, we restrained ourselves and ordered only ten kilos. Okay, more like five. But it was only because they had no butter and garlic (for which I berated Madame Fishing Village for) and I told her the day she had those two things in her floating pantry, WWF had better put the oysters around the Fishing Village on the endangered species watchlist. After belching out oyster-gas, we swam in the Village’s fishpen with some very large fish. Mme. Fishing Village took her revenge for my what-do-you-mean-no-butter-tirade by tossing small fry around us, inducing the cannibal-fishes into a feeding frenzy centimeters away from our very delectable bodies. We also visited the nearby Pangasinan Island where I took off my briefs and forgot to take them down from the coconut tree I was drying them on. Ah well, the spoils always go to the lucky.We spent the rest of the morning back at the Enchanted River, where we held a very entertaining amateur jumping exhibition for the locals, diving from some seven feet up into the cool blue waters. As were drying ourselves off at high noon, something like a lunch bell rang out and everyone started going to the river. Thinking there was free food (or beer!) we hurried after the crowd, to find the same feeding ritual we had witnessed earlier that day being done at the river. Man, they really love their fish in Hinatuan.I had to tear everyone away from the river around 12, but I promised them something even more awe-inspiring in the afternoon.Curious about what we saw that afternoon?
