| 説明 | "The Almshouses" in Castleblayney, County Monaghan, has that Victorian ring to it. Alms - a word that is understood but seldom used these days, seems to have a sense of the very privileged giving to the unfortunate to salve their conscience. Dickens, with his great social awareness, probably summed it up best in the likes of Oliver Twist - but it's early in the morning for such musing!
