| 説明 | This statue honors Ichikawa Danjûrô IX (1838-1903), who is one of the greatest Kabuki actors from the Meiji period, playing the role of Kamakura Gongoro Kagemasa, from the Shibaraku play.Kamakura Gongoro Kagemasa was a samurai descended from the Taira clan, who fought for the Minamoto clan in the Gosannen War of Japan's Heian period. He is famous for having continued to fight after losing an eye in battle during that war. This was in 1085, when Kagemasa was sixteen years of age. |
