説明The O’Donnell homestead was built in 1885 on Lot 10, Concession 3 of the former Angelsea Township, when Hugh was eleven years old. It was built by a Mr. Crabtree. Hugh lived here with his mother, stepfather, brothers, and sisters until the early 1900s. His mother was Alice (Guina) O’Donnell, and his stepfather was Nicholas Kearns. In the early 1900’s, Hugh left to find employment in Buffalo, New York and later in Timmins, Ontario. At one time, he worked at the Hollinger Mine. He also worked in Trenton as a foreman in the ammunition factory during World War I. When the factory closed in 1919, he returned to the farm, where he farmed until his death in 1957.Hugh and his wife, Alice (Myles) O’Donnell, had four children: John, Margaret (Trudeau), Ambrose, and Martin. The farm property is now owned by a great-granddaughter, Shawna Trudeau of Tweed.
