| 説明 | Richard Bauder and his wife, Eliza (Mills) Bauder, settled on Lots 4 & 5, Concession 9 in Barrie Township (now North Frontenac), May 18, 1900. This property was a provincial land grant of 86 acres. We are unsure of the exact date of completion, as the land had to be cleared and a dwelling erected within four years of the grant. They lived here for many years. Following Eliza's death, Richard returned to the Verona area, and the property was passed to his eldest son, Arthur. Arthur passed away in 1968. In 1973, his wife Roxie donated the 86 acres and buildings to the Province of Ontario for educational purposes. The house and outbuildings have long since been demolished, and the memorial cairn, which was erected on the site, was relocated to the shore of Mississagagon Lake on property that was part of the original farm—photo and information courtesy of Eileen Flieler.Part of the Eileen Flieler AlbumNote: Commercial use of this image is prohibited without CDHS permission.
