| 説明 | After visiting Alkmaar, Arthur and I returned to Amsterdam where we had lunch at Restaurant 1e Klas. Here I took a photo of the place's famous parrot.After lunch, Arthur and I parted. He had something to do himself and I took the train to 's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) in southern Netherlands.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxSeeing Restaurant 1e Klas (meaning “First Class”) again reminds me of something that happened on my second day in Amsterdam. On that day, Michiel, Marcel, Alexander, Jamill, Bart, Chris and I met up at the restaurant for our flickr meetup. Now, 1e Klas is a bit of an old-fashioned, higher-end sort of railway terminus restaurant perhaps more used to serving mature and quieter businessmen. Here we’re a younger crowd, rather casual, a bit rowdy, and most of all we’re trainspotters (except Michiel) constantly dashing in and out of the restaurant with our cameras whenever a new train entered the station.After a couple hours of this, the maître d’hôtel finally either was annoyed with our commotion, or was afraid that we would run off the place without paying. He came around asking if we could all settle the bill. I think a few of us mildly protested that we’re not leaving yet. But not wanting to cause any uneasiness, I pulled out my wallet and cheerfully settled the bill. He then left us alone for the rest of our stay. Honestly I don’t blame or mind the maîte d’ hotel’s action. His establishment probably is not used to seeing a whole group of trainspotters dashing in and out between beers! |
