説明 | This boutique was seen next to Sangbong-dong Costco in northeastern Seoul. Here, I can have a custom-tailored traditional Korean dress, or hanbok, made. I should expect to pay around ₩250,000 (about USD $200) or so for a decent example. In South Korea, it is extremely rare for men to wear traditional clothing in public, unless they are Confucian fundamentalists or it is New Year's holiday. Women wear traditional dresses on more occasions (i.e. waitresses at upscale Korean restaurants), and often wear them on weddings and honeymoons.Nevertheless South Korean women wear traditional clothing much less than their northern counterparts, who often wear them to reflect their government's nationalist propaganda. Northern examples tend to also use more primary colors whereas southern examples, like these, use more muted, sophisticated colors. |
