The rocks at the falls are the Black Hand Sandstone, a Lower Mississippian succession of planar-bedded and cross-bedded quartzose sandstones with occasional pebbles. The Black Hand Sandstone has been interpreted as an ancient deltaic deposit or an incised valley fill deposit. |
