| 説明 | Built in 1906, this eclectic Gothic Revival and Romanesque Revival-style building was designed by Henry Schlacks for the congregation of St. Henry Catholic Church. In 1926, a new church was built on Hoyne Avenue, and the building became the chapel for the adjacent Angel Guardian Orphanage, which operated from 1865 until 1977. In 1977, the church became the Croatian Catholic Mission Church, and was renamed for Croatian Cardinal Alojzije (Aloysius) Stepinac when he was beatified in 1998. The building is clad in red brick with a gabled roof, limestone trim, roman arched bays, stained glass windows, a corner tower with copper dormers and pinnacles at the base of the spire, stone tracery above the main entrance bays, and a rectory to the south of the main wing of the church. The building today serves as the Blessed Aloysius Stepinac Croatian Catholic Mission Church. |
