| 説明 | Built in 1930-1931, this Art Deco-style building was designed by Roy C. Place to serve as the Cochise County Courthouse, replacing the previous courthouse in Tombstone, which had served as the county seat from 1881 until 1929. The five-story building is built of concrete with decorative sculptural reliefs, a massing that tapers with setbacks towards the center of the building, a gable parapet above the central bays of the front facade, stone trim around the main entrance bay, brass entrance doors with decorative motifs, including sculptures that depict miners, metal-frame windows, pilasters, a large front terrace with a concrete balustrade, bronze lampposts, and a flagpole, a bronze and concrete fountain with geometric motifs below the front terrace, and a bridge with geometric reliefs over the rear service drive. The building is a contributing structure in the Bisbee Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Today, the building houses various court functions and offices for Cochise County. |
