説明 | Some weeks ago I found these two fluffy tiny things hanging on a stem of grass and moving with the wind. I had no idea what they were, but they looked interesting. After doing some research, I concluded they must be egg sacs from a pirate spider (family Mimetidae). I learned that pirate spiders do not spin webs, instead they invade the webs of other spiders and mimic the movements a trapped insect would make. When the other spider rushes to capture its supposed prey, it gets preyed upon instead by the pirate spider. This is why I love going outside and noticing the little details of the natural world. I saw two fluffy things, and ended up learning about spider-eating spiders! |
